Medicare Mental Health Check In – online now

Medicare Mental Health Check In is a new, free digital service to help people with mild-mental health challenges build practical skills and confidence to take control of their wellbeing.
The service will be rolling out in stages. A new website is now online, offering:
- evidence-based resources
- help understanding what people are experiencing, such as when life feels overwhelming, when you can’t sleep or your mood feels low
- practical self-care tips
You can access more supports from:
- 30 March 2026 – guided support delivered by trained professionals via phone or video.
- 30 May 2026 – explore simple online tools at your own pace.
Delivered by St Vincent’s Health Australia, the service provides free early mental health support through evidence-based Low-intensity Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (LiCBT).
By building practical skills and confidence, Medicare Mental Health Check In aims to help people early, before problems get worse and require more intensive care.
The service is available for free to people living in Australia, aged 16 and over—no referral or diagnosis required.
Visit the website to register your interest for when services are available.
If you need urgent help, call 000 or access crisis support services.
