Kids Hubs (previously known as ‘Head to Health Kids’) provide a welcoming, inclusive place for children aged 0-12 experiencing mild to moderate developmental, emotional, relational and/or behavioural challenges, while also providing support to their families.

Kids Hubs are delivered by the Australian Government in partnership with all states and territories. Support through a Kids Hub is free, and you don’t need a diagnosis or referral to access services or support.

There are several ways to connect with a Kids Hub:

  • Call 1800 595 212 for information about the Kids Hub and other mental health and wellbeing supports in your local area.
  • Visit your nearest location and a trained professional will take the time to talk to you to understand and help with your immediate needs. Walk-ins accepted.
  • Call your local Kids Hub directly and make an appointment.

Find your nearest location below.

Kids Hubs are not a crisis service. If you need urgent help, call 000 or access crisis support services.

The name of Head to Health Kids Hubs is changing

Services previously known as ‘Head to Health Kids Hubs’ will be gradually renamed as ‘Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs’ over the coming months. During this transition, you may notice a change in the look and feel of communication you will receive when engaging with these services.

If you are in Victoria, you can also visit a Children’s Health and Wellbeing Local for families living in certain areas to access similar support.

How Kids Hubs can help

Kids Hubs aim to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for children by:

  • filling gaps in the health system with integrated, holistic and multidisciplinary services
  • providing timely, culturally safe and child-centred interventions
  • delivering accessible and equitable services at no cost to families.

The supports and services provided at each Kids Hub have been designed with, and for, its local community. This means the services and supports available vary across each location. However, families will have access to a comprehensive range of health professionals which may include:

  • paediatricians
  • psychiatrists
  • psychologists
  • social workers
  • speech pathologists
  • occupational therapists
  • Aboriginal health workers
  • dieticians
  • nursing staff
  • peer workers
  • family services workers.

In addition, a variety of services and programs available include:

  • care coordination
  • treatments and therapies
  • initial assessments
  • diagnostics services
  • parenting, attachment, relationship and family system support.

Kids Hubs can also link you with other services you might find helpful, depending on your needs and preferences.

Quality of care from Kids Hubs is supported by the National Service Model, which has been developed to ensure consistency in their establishment, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
