News and announcements | 1 Jun 2026

Medicare Mental Health Check In provides free online programs to help you take care of your mental health and wellbeing, early.

You can now access these programs independently or with support from a qualified mental health practitioner.

It can be hard to recognise or know what to do about the early signs of stress, anxiety, or other mild mental health challenges. Medicare Mental Health Check In offers evidence-based support to help you build practical skills and confidence, so you feel better prepared to manage life’s ups and downs.

The service offers 6 free digital programs to help tackle common challenges you may be facing, such as managing worries, improving your quality of sleep, or lifting your mood.. Each program takes around 6 weeks to complete.

A qualified mental health practitioner can support you by guiding you through the programs together.  If you prefer to work on your own or need more flexibility, you can complete the programs by yourself, anytime, anywhere.

Key information can be found in 10 languages, with access to interpreting services for more than 150 languages. Additional features will be rolled out over time.

Medicare Mental Health Check In is free for people aged 16 and over living in Australia, with no diagnosis or referral needed.
